EDIT I will withdraw that anti-american stuff because it ruffles too many feathers. What i will say is that some folks are so anti-bush that they place this motivation above whats better for america. Maybe thats what i was trying to say.

The anti-american stuff is definitely a problem. But addressing arguments in terms of the personal characteristics of posters is troubling as well. I, for one, would like to see that reduced as much as possible.

It does look like the vote went quite well, I'm glad to see (per initial reports) that the Sunnis have participated well. I think Bush needs to latch on to the momentum here for all it is worth with a full court press to get the new government functional ASAP. At the same time, they need to redouble their efforts reaching out to the Sunnis, rather than redoubling their efforts to kill as many as possible, which, unfortunately is the more likely outcome.

If Iraq can avoid the quibbling that dominated the formation of the last government, it would be a great help on the momentum front.
