Lieberman has positioned himself this way and now that many are trying to run him out of the party for being somewhat hopeful on iraq, he is on the short list to replace don rumsfeld. I cannot imagine any war opponents not seeing the improvement if that occurred. But most will not see. One should view the republican problems as base building as in a stock chart. 2006 may be a bad year in congress but they will come roaring back against the lightweights arrayed against them in the dem party. One of my reasons for being a moderate and a progressive is to get the other party to come up with something new. I dont want to vote for JEB (g) but i will if he is running against dean/pelosi/kerry/murtha. Hillary offers me some hope as does biden, evan bayh, mark warner.
