What type of connection do you have? Dial up (modem) or broadband (DSL or Cable)? Do you connect via a router? What service pack level do you have? Have you kept Windows updated? What browser do you use?

And, do you remember the name of the link that infected you so that others might avoid it.

Bummer.

There are links to everything you need on the thread header page. Some of this can get very involved so you might just consider starting over from scratch. At least you will then know everything is as good as it can get.

I think lots here have had virus mishaps or other catastrophic problems, but if you use disk Imaging software (Norton Ghost) you can be back up in running in less than an hour.

This is what you need to do once your system is back up and running:

Try my bullet proof back-up system:

1. Buy Norton Ghost
2. Have a spare hard drive installed in your computer or a USB external hard drive
3. Back-up ghost images with Norton Ghost every month (or more) to your spare hard drive.
4. Back up critical data to DVD or CDR discs or USB drive once a week.
5. When your computer goes haywire, or a main hard drive fails, restore a ghost image, and you are back in business in about an hour or two.

Faithfully back up your ghost images and critical data. When a bug or harddrive failure comes along, you can fix it quickly.

You NEED a backup plan. Period.
