Sadly, war in the US is looked upon as some kind of a national football game against foreigners. So there is the tendency to drag wars out even if they cannot be won.

Since WWII we have not had a truly justified war except the short Afghanistan-Taliban invasion which almost the whole world agreed with.

I hope that on sunday Bush announces withdrawls of US forces. But probably he will only withdraw those extra forces sent to guard the voting precincts, and pretend he's de-escalating. Bushies hate the idea of escalating and love the idea of permanent war. Many of their cronies make a living off that war. They don't want it to end. Unless the American people speak out and make their disgust known.

US public opinion is still the master now, especially going into 2006, where if Bushies lose congress, Bush-Cheney could both be impeached and Bushie oil and corporate interests could lose hundreds of billions in corporate welfare sweetheart deals.

Time to declare victory and start withdrawing. End it within 9 months.
