Ever since 9/11 we have been told by the powers that be, if you challenge what we decided to do, you are weak. Finally we are seeing a backlash against the fear-mongering threats to democracy, dissent, a free press and honesty and accountability in government (not to mention separation of powers and checks and balances).

I always figured Bush's second term would be a train wreck on the domestic front. He is going off the rails faster than I expected, and his domestic economic agenda crumbled at an amazing clip.

Today we have 20-30% of the electorate who still trust Bush and believe everything he has done is right. An equal amount or higher is adamantly opposed, both on Bush's honesty and the substance of his policies. And the moderate middle is running 2-3 or 3-1 against Bush.

Instead of arguing with folks here, I will just sit back and watch the American electorate give their verdict. We'll know over the next year if a majority of Americans can be grabbed by the collar and forced back into line by the "Obey us or you're a traitor!" crowd, or whether a new majority will emerge that doesn't believe the US Constitution is an optional, disposable document subject to the whims of incumbents.
