I understand your point about the distinction between privacy and liberty and I pretty much agree to it. I would however add that a reduction in privacy can enable a reduction in liberty, even if it isn't one itself, or if is only a minimal reduction in liberty. The more the government knows about you, the more it observes you and collects information on you, the more it is able to restrict you. Tim
