On the other hand, if brownshirts take over How likely do you think this is? How relevant is the Patriot Act to this possibility in your opinion? The Patriot Act is aimed at giving the Executive Office unlimited powers. Even if this administration is filled with people of pristine and noble character and can exercise such powers with the noblest intent, the next administration will certainly be unlikely to be so virtuous. It will be only a matter of time when some future administration will use the Patriot act to transform it into something that the founding fathers were against. Is it that far fetched that either a Jerry Falwell or Jane Fonda type that can take over. More likely it would be someone with a hidden agenda that is either to the far right of Jerry Falwell or to the far left of Jane Fonda. Is that a more unlikely scenario than Islamist doing irrevocable harm to us?
