Bush admitted the spying on Americans charge. What would you have the press do, supress the truth? Also, with the Patriot Act due to be rammed through again, including some dangerous provisions, everything needed to stop. Remember, congress didn't even reads the Patriot Act before they voted it in after 9-11. It was rammed through - but by who and for what reasons besides fighting terrorism? What we don't want is to go back to the days of McCarthyism when Americans were treated like enemies. That Cold War attitude is un-American and not necessary. If actual terrorists are in the US I'm sure the FBI can get whatever warrants they need quickly. What if, for instance, Bushies were to use wiretapping against the democrats? Don't say it's never happened. it happened during Nixon's years. In fact, Nixon had Kerry under surveillance for two years, the FBI finding out that Kerry was a moderate and never did anything wrong.
