It's not about errors, it's about knowing how much money you have in the bank so you don't bounce checks right, left and center. I know plenty of folks just make sure they have a few hundred or a few thousand cushion in there, but I saw the checkbooks for people who had totally lost track of their balance and ended up in a total mess. When you balance the checkbook monthly, it takes me maybe five minutes tops. So one hour per year, less than a full day in 20 years, I can live with that. How much time do you spend watching local TV news stories you couldn't care less about? Probably 10-15 minutes per night, waiting for the weather forecast. ;<)
