IMHO the KURDS will NOT walk, provided they are given a reasonably amount of Autonomy in a Federal Iraq. This includes the ability to have their own Militia (similar to National Guard here in States, so I see no problem there), the ability to have their own tax system on say oil revenue (similar to state sales and income taxes here, so I see no problem there), and they type of control over their own populance such as the United States had early in our Countries foundation, so I see no problem there. Secondly, IMHO, the Shia's will go along exactly with the Kurds demands cause in essence they also want the SAME THING for themselves. The Sunni's if they are smart will play along cause ULTIMATELY I suspect the Sunni's will run the Federal Goverment more so then their %age of the populance would indicate, if for no other reason then they are centrally located and seem to have proclivity for that sort of thing.

Now IF the Kurds were FORCED to Walk, I think things would stay pretty much the same in Kurdistan SO LONG as they dont try to stir up the Turkish Kurds and irritate Turkey. The USA will stand behind any REASONABLE Kurdistan cause, to be honest, they LOVE US and we like to be LOVED. jdn
