Pelosi did not sign off on anything, you liar. Newsmax is full of it. Certain key congressmen were told about the spying only long after it happened and they all expressed concern and outrage. Nobody authorized it.

In addition to Pelosi, not a single GOP senator supports or supported Bush's illegal spying. They have a system by which the president can order such spying, and has 72 hours to get a warrant. Bush ignored that rule and went ahead and did it in secret. He is in big trouble for this. And rightwing senators are just as concerned about it as liberal congresswomen.

if a president can spy on anyone in the US, that means he can ruin our democracy by spying on political opponents. No end to the amount of corruption which would be possible then. Bush did something you'd expect from Saddam Hussein, not the leader of the free world. Nixon was impeached for lying about the Watergate break-in. This is worse.
