I have voted for both major parties at different times and different levels of elections. It's much more fun being a swing voter in the middle instead of one of the partisan parrots, repeating all the cheerleading slogans for one side or another.

The fact that neither party in the US can ever put together a coalition that holds the White House more than 12 years tells you how perfect they are in absolute terms, LOL.

I agree with your characterization that the Democrats are a disorganized mess, hardly worth remarking on until some new shape or direction emerges. If that direction is Hillary, we'll simply have a rehash of the last two elections with one side desperately trying to bash the other down to 49% of the vote.

But if we get candidates from both parties who eschew the crotch-bashing politics of the past, it could get very interesting.
