Even if 2006 ended up being a bear market year there would be counter trend rallies. All I'm saying is it's a lot safer to buy when things look so bad they can only get better. Especially if you want to be a longer term investor.

Election year cycles since 1950 have only resulted in two mid term years without resultant sell offs in the S&P 500. These sell offs led to tremendous buying opportunities. They also have a habit of occurring in four year cycles:

Guess what? 2006 is a mid term year.

If you want to bet against there being a good trading bottom in 2006 then you have to believe that the market is capable of continuing on to new highs without a significant pullback?

That simply is not likely because of all the negative divergences present now in combination with high levels of meaningful bullishness.

I will be a short term buyer before the next long term bottom but only with limited funds because this market rally has continued with less and less participation.

Good luck to all...
