Point 1......the attitude of most GOPers at least in theory is that gov't stinks, is too big, and needs to be cutback. "Maybe the more libertarian 1/4th to a half of the GOP might have this attitude or something like that. I don't think it is accurate to say that most, or even the majority of the GOP has this idea. Why are you arguing this issue? Whether its the majority of the GOP is immaterial. Its a party plank and its common fodder for the rightwing news outlets. "Government stinks" is not part of the GOP platform. Government should be cut back might be (although probably not in those words), but I think actions speak louder than words. The GOP does not cut back government. I wish it would but it hasn't happened and probably won't happen soon. Tim
