They're not going to complain. They are morally and legally invisible.

Besides he was just doing what was "right"--protecting incompetent people from their own bad choices. And there is always a reason at hand: drinking in a public alley, for instance (a good lawyer could prove they were cleaning the damn alley but what are you gonna pay a good lawyer with? beer cans!!??)

From my point of view as an observer he was just a morally superior work of art adding a few inches to his height...
