He wasn't negotiating the cessation of hostilities. Negotiation must be done by authorized representatives. He represented the private opinion of a legal group (the VVAW). We don't know what he said. He claims he did not negotiate--and how could he. He had a meeting (or so he claims). Ill advised and ill conceived--perhaps. Treason--absolutely not.

I am no defender of Kerry. I think a lot of things might be said about his (mis)use of language and his (mis)representations. However, "treason" is unnecessarily sensational, malicious, and inaccurate. To suggest he does not love his country or would act to submit it to foreign authority (as "treason" suggests) is just over the top.
