diamonds in Madagascar: this is a stupid article - just forget it! they list several ores (e.g., gem stones, bauxite, ilmenite) that each have their specific geological environment in which they form. The only information related to diamonds is that companies found two (only two!) kimberlite pipes so far. However, in order to be diamond-bearing the kimberlites have to have sampled an area in the Earth's upper mantle with very specific pressure-temperature conditions (e.g., pressure above the graphite/diamond line). Even in South Africa this P-T environment is only to be found in (or rather "under") the centre of the Kaapvaal Craton and not along its margins. The article is just "propaganda".

cheers - Laurin
