<<<Any thoughts on why the increases to the GLD etf are generally around 3 tons?>>>

Or 100,000 oz.

<<<broker/dealer participants are either only willing to go short shares or contractually limited to being short what amounts to 3 tons.>>>
Why does anyone have to be short?

Minimum GLD unit creation is 10,000 oz or 100,000 GLD shares. Apparently if someone wants to obtain 100,000 GLD shares can do that just by buying blocks of GLD on NYSE. If some fund wants to get 100,000 then it has to create GLD shares.

100,000 oz is about $50,000,000. Nice (not large) amount for a mutual fund.
