<Less labor input means fewer people employed at a given output level.

How can an individual service their debt when their employment has been eliminated?>

This is very funny. When more is accomplished with less it fuels growth. When less is accomplished with more it retards growth. Want something to worry about? Worry about our LOW level of real productivity growth and the impact that has on retarding real economic growth and well-being -- as distinct from the drug-addled growth based on redistribution that we have now.

As the jobs go, so does the debt, why are all you silly little humans so worried? Ok so you cant slave away in a hot factory or hot farm for 18 hours a day cause a machine does it now - instead you must fight the traffic to get to macy's and drink your starbucks. As the "machines" do more of our "slave" labor why is that feared? Why so many luddites - lindybill posted a nice post slamming krugman and loom weavers

John henry is a great story, but I dont want to be swinging a pick axe all day - how could I play general chen deathmatch then?

I guess I watched too much star trek - I dont recall kirk paying for much. What was the official money of the federation? One of my programmer star trek loving friends that used to make the big bucks always railed against open source FREE type movements - his main arguement always came back to that FREE will not be supported in the long run and that is why MSFT will always win in the end - they charge and thus will always support their products. Now he spends a lot of time maintaining some WIKI stuff for FREE - I asked him why do you give it away for FREE - your time to that project - wiki will not be maintained as well as the for PAY encyclopedias eh? He does not answer.

I dont understand this inflation monster and deflation monster the euro boys want to contain - if I am to help the world get to star trek as ole roddenberry dreamed - that will require deflation to the point were money does not exist as we understand it today eh? FREE
