Do you suppose thames_sider (who actually mentions Lincoln), Baker, or X are aware that Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War? That the USSC said his act was unconstitutional and only Congress had that power? That the USSC was right?

Constitution of the United States of America
Article I
Section 8. The Congress shall have power to
........................................................
The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.

That Lincoln completely ignored the adverse USSC ruling and considered having Taney, the Chief Justice, arrested?

Do you suppose they are aware that Lincoln had numerous editors and others arrested and held without trial for opposing him and the war? I'd LOVE to hear more from them about Lincoln. They are certainly welcome to come here and defend him.

Maybe we can get Rudi or Carolyn to lead the prodecution. As Southern women, they are well aware of Mr. Lincoln's righteousness and respect for the law.

I also find it most amusing to see thames, a liberal, defending FDR's internment of American citizens of Japanese ancestry during during WW2. Most amusing. The fact is that NO Japanese-Americans spied for or committed sabotage on behalf of the Japanese Government either before or during the war. Espionage was committed by Japanese Embassy personnel, but they are known by all to be legal spies.

I suppose these people, including X, must have missed your post about war crimes committed by American soldiers, else how could they be so smug? Yours is not the first time such matters have come up. There have been admissions and eyewitness accounts. But we won. The victor gets to hold the war crimes trials.

I wonder what X would have to say had we lost. Her father may well have had to try to justify his actions in a German court.
