the administration is arguing that the powers of the commander and chief are--I can't remember the word they're using but it means limitless.

I haven't heard them going quite that far, but then I admit to trying to listen to as little news out of the Swamp as I can.

But maybe you're right. After all, they can look to the fact that Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus, which in its day was viewed as being as much a bedrock of constitutional protections as the first Amendment is today.
