Nonsense - the two (Muslim and democratic) are not in opposition to each other. Ask any non-ruling Arab whether they want a say in their countries' leadership or they want things as they are, and they will say they want a say (I say!). There is nothing in Islam that says that Muslims cannot vote. Palestinians hold elections and there is nothing unIslamic about it.re: Merely stating that "Iraqi law should be in alignment with Muslim values" = you are in a religious political group. Whoop de do. Virtually every Muslim in Iraq is going to agree with that approach. You are totally ignoring the Muslim religious factions, and of course the Kurds. You are ignoring 1500 years of constant hostility... that certainly isn't lessening these days. What are you talking about? My point is that the vast majority of Iraqi politicians want a "Muslim" state, and are therefore in "religious" parties, and there is nothing wrong with that. Your point escapes me.Your "there is nothing wrong with religious political groups"; they are killing and torturing each other... that is THE THING that is happening in Iraq. That's the problem Einstein! Oh, is that all. In other words, since your 1,500 years of Iraqi strife hasn't evaporated in the past two years you see nothing but doom, gloom and hopeless destruction. Some radicals are committing crimes, so its hell on earth to you, something that needs improvement and better law enforcement to the rest of us. In the US the South after the Civil War treated black people poorly for the next 100 years or so, but 1890 was probably somewhat better than 1870, and 1920 better than 1890, and 1950 better than 1920. I'm sure the news you get is censored, but you should be able to read between the lines for at least some base of reality in your thinking. The news here doesn't get censored, I don't live in China. I'm making the point that for ME Muslims to want a "religious" state is absolutely no big deal and is normal, in about the same way the Israelis want a Jewish state. These guys haven't gone through the whole separation of church and state that Chrishtianity went through about 300-400 years ago. The only problem with a religious state is it prevents the next fair election from occurring. That is not a religious problem - it's a dictatorship/leadership problem.
