This is about Bush. Bush knew the laws and broke them. The new laws were put into place to help catch terrorists. Bush knew them well but intentionally ignored and broke them and has even admitted to it on national TV. This is an open-shut case.

BTW: I don't believe any of these Clinton and Carter did it scenarios. I've never seen any evidence they ever spied on Americans without warrants. But Nixon did and look where it got him.

Clinton was acting UNDER FISA:

"By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including sections 302 and 303 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 ("Act") (50 U.S.C. 1801, et seq.)"

-From the Executive order you cited. The Chimp WAS NOT acting under FISA. FISA allows wiretaps without a court order for 15 days after a terrorist attack, or ANYTIME as long as the application is made to the FISA court within 72 hours of the commencement of the surveillance. Both Clinton and Carter FOLLOWED THE LAW.

Your post about Clinton condemns Bush. Assuming this document is real, which is a big if, it clearly states that the senate and congress must approve first. Bush did not consult congress, or even got to the emergency court, as stated by Feinstein, Graham, Specter, Rockefellar and Pelosi.

Bushies merely informed 8 congressmen of what had already been done years ago, lied about it, minmized it, did not say they weren't getting warrants and denied them to right to do anything about it nor discuss it with anyone.

Be careful what you post if you want to help promote one-party far rightwing totalitarian rule. It may backfire. This is America. A nation of rules, valuing above all truth, legality, constitutionality and public opinion. The executive branch does not have that many extraordinary powers. There are checks and balances built in and Bush's huge crime was to avoid them. No president is above the law as many have found out, the latest being Nixon.

Clinton followed the laws. Bush didn't.
