The polls measure the Iraqi elections and the economy - the domestic spying has yet to be factored in. We'll know if Americans are ready for a chimp Caesar in a few days..

re: For roughly two months as Bush's poll numbers dropped, these people kept their mouths shut. As soon as Bush's numbers turn back up which was to be expected, they are flapping their yaps again.

The main point being that his poll numbers have turned up. What does that tell you?

It tells me that a significant portion at the middle of the political spectrum will buy any bull shit from "their President".

The numbers turning back up are Republicans who deserted him and now are coming back into the fold. You can see that when the numbers are broken out by affiliation. It was to be expected.

You know how they think......its really hard for the them to accept the notion that Bush is evil. And they are some of the least informed members of the population. Probably many of them don't quite get why the wiretapping might be bad. If you are wiretapping a terrorist inside the US who may be thinking of doing another 9/11, what's so bad about that. They don't see the wider implications.

No, I consider the poll numbers going back up an example of the 'dead cat bounce' seen in the stock market. When the insurgents start back up in the next few weeks and start killing more American soldiers, the numbers will come back down and I think this time they will stay down. Its unfortunate that killing in Iraq is what gets to them but again, these are not America's best and the brightest people.

As for the wiretapping.......this one has to be dealt with in Congress and through the legal channels. If done properly, it could well result in the forced resignation of Bush and Cheney.
