Paula Jones was paid to lie by a far rightwing group intent on smearing Clinton. The financiers included Mellon Scaife (I think he also owns Newsmax) a vicious far rightwing miserly billionaire, and Koch Oil, a noxious private oil behemoth. Their money went to lawyers and anti-Clinton PR firms. including Anne Coulter. Coulter actually helped Jones write up her dishonest testimonies. These vicious smear-mongers invented the whole BimboGate phony scandals, and definitely paid Paula Jones, and probably paid others like Broadrrick to changer her sworn testimony that Clinton never touched her.

Monica Lewinsky was completely different. She was not a rightwing shill and was not paid. She was sucked in by Linda Tripp (sp?) in an investigation into Clinton's sex life by the partisan Special Prosecutor STarr. That investigation never should have taken place. It was a huge oversteping of authority. And sex between adults is perfectly legal, though cheating on one's wife is unethical.

How would you like it if Patrick Fitzgerald started investigating Tammi the Houston stripper Bush reputed dated while married in the 80's? for instance -- What did that have to do with the silly little Whitewater charges? Nothing.
