Iraq Vote Hands Power To Islamic Mullahs including Sadr. This may not be the end of the world, but Bush's candidates got wiped out, so while Bush says he's there to protect the Iraqi people, the Iraqi people have plainly voted against Bush. We now have a huge military presence in a country where the political powers could be hostile to us. At the very least they won't be friendly and will want us gone. news.independent.co.uk

Historians say this resembles the French debacle in Algeria. They too allowed voting and were voted out. That turned into a terrible mess. Let's hope Iraq doesn't. But why wasn't this anticipated? Haven't some of us been predicting it for years?
