Perhaps our conversation is at an end. I'm looking to weigh the pros and cons of the Patriot act and its actual and proposed modifications, but its hard to do so without very specific criticisms about how specific parts of the act are or may be violations of our rights or at least extreme and unwarranted extensions of government power. I think Karen had a similar problem. The supporters of the act tend to bash the opponents as people who are helping the terrorists. The opponents of the act bash the supporters are people who are letting our freedom slip away (or even causing it to slip away). Its hard to weigh the arguments when no one is really making them. For the most part each side is preaching to the choir, rather than to the other side or even the undecidededs (at least not the undecidededs who actually want to analyze the situation in depth rather then just be scared by one side or the other in to joining their cause.
