But if they have to attack Bush (and they do) let them attack him for trying to defend the country from attack. That'll go over well with the electorate.

The Dems didn't seem to get it in 2000, nor did they get it in 2004. I suspect it will be the same story in 2006 and hopefully 2008.

They are weak on national defense and security, and the voters know it.
