It sure took some time for the international team of troops in Iraq to start coming up with winning solutions. There were also several thousand people killed in the process. Key word Falluja.

The UN can be criticized but only in the light of whats happening in Iraq.

There is a odd unreality of how Clinton handled Bosnia and how Bush handled Iraq. An interesting comparison.

"American army units with high artillery have taken over a strategically important road that separates the two communities, but US soldiers will not be deployed in the most dangerous areas.

Americans in Bosnia now number 2,000

Lessons to be learned I think.

My view is the UN should be beefed up militarily. Perhaps the USA and other leading powers making a large contribution. The UN forces need to be feared, and when they get called in, they take a heavy toll on combatents on both sides of any war.

Lots of training to win the hearts and minds of civilians. To simple an idea?
