Well, there was no thorough investigation of LBJ, another crooked Texas politician, when the Dems were in power. And the Iran Contra scandal was pretty much swept under the rug and Bush Pere allowed to pardon all the crooks, even with Dems in power. Except for Ollie, who had his conviction thrown out by a Republican power broker judge. So, the impeachment of Andrew Johnson remains the only evidence that supports your argument, though that is a strong peice of precedence.
