More on MRVL from yesterday...11:53 MRVL Marvell: Seagate / Maxtor merger should not impact Marvell’s FY07 estimates- D.A Davidson (57.20 -1.76) -Update-

Firm notes that Seagate (STX) will acquire Maxtor (MXO). The firm believes Maxtor's 160GB transition remains on-track and Marvell remains poised to benefit. Maxtor reiterated its goal to begin shipping desktop drives using 160GB platters in calendar Q2 and ramp production throughout the year. The firms model assumes that Marvell will ship SoC solutions to approx 25% of Maxtor's drives in 2006 and they believe this is a conservative estimate. Firm says while it is too early to speculate as to what products Seagate will decide to keep, they believe there will be an opportunity for Marvell to compete for future Seagate drives. From their discussions with their contacts the firm believes Seagate has been engaged in discussions about future drives with Marvell and therefore they believe there is an opportunity in the future for Marvell to supply Seagate's desktop drives.
