The big bang theory also has supporting scientific evidence; measurements of celestial movement via spectral analysis, for example.

The only time I was ever taught the caribou out of the hole or the Titans or the Great Spirit was in mythology class. I'm ok with adding Intelligent Design to a mythology class.

Evolution is a science because of the collected, observed, and measured scientific data that supports it. As with most areas of scientific study, there are unexplained holes, but that neither reduces the evidence to date nor turns it into a 'mythology' or 'belief system'. To choose to disbelieve evolution is akin to believing in 'Intelligent Design', or siding with those who used to believe the Sun spins around the Earth based of religious dogma. In other words, a valid choice, but one that denies scientific reason.

And therefore, ok for religion or mythology classes, but inappropriate for a science class.
