(but no flood insurance)

You'd better check the elevation of your town house. You never know when a storm surge will come in. Google Earth will tell you. I'm 140 ft. above sea level. <g>

If the storm surge is coming, what you have to do is accidentally burn your house down first. Then you'll be covered...

Did not realize you are also in Fairfax, like me. You and Kholt and I are neighbors. We all ought to get together for Middle Eastern chow sometime. Kholt and I love Lebanese, and even go to the same place, albeit never at the same time.

Well, given that you have a mortgage, you have homeowner's insurance. If it's not enough to cover your home and the contents you need to increase it.

I have an entire list of things you should do that I downloaded after Katrina. None of which I have actually done myself! Like take digital photos of your house and contents, and send copies to people far away, maybe upload to some online photo album.

Scan birth certificate, driver's license, marriage license, insurance cards and policies, etc. Etc.

I got it from the Lousiana Bar Association website, I think they got it from the American Bar Association.
