Since we are talking Belief Systems...

Cool! I believe the charts represent everything every market particpant knows. I also believe at any given moment in time 99% of market marticipants have no idea what is going on (including myself, of course.) Combined, I believe charts measure the divergence between what the "average" speculator thinks they know and what they actually know.

Most of the time, that difference is not astoundingly huge. That gives us rangebound markets. When the difference is large, we get strong trends as participants adjust their views/positions in a (subconcious) attempt to minimize the divergence.
