While that's true, in theory it should smooth itself out by folks on the opposite side also having a vested interest in lying. My guess is that the noise factor due to this is ultimately pretty small with a big enough responder set.

You lost me on this one, my friend... The good thing about "objectively measured" sentiment data is precisely that it shows you whether your personal "sentiment" happens to be in alignment with those who have a good -- or, a poor - track record.

For instance, if I "feel" something is about to happen -- if I learn that I am in full agreement with a bunch of consistently wrong odd-lotters, I'll think twice before acting on my "intuition"... g/ng
