Merry, I can't move my discussion to a coffee house board as the system does not allow such. There should be no 'clutter' here as McEwen and his gold company holdings would seem to be on topic on a board titled, Gold and Silver Juniors, Mid-tiers and Producers.

Are you just speculating that McEwen already has one mine in Mexico under control?

Just the facts....

1. The Magistral Mine is a conventional open pit, heap leach gold mine located in northwestern Mexico.... The project currently has a seven-year life as of July 1, 2004. On July 27, 2005 the Company announced that the Mine was being placed in leach only mode due to dramatically increased operating costs.

2. Rob Mcewen Acquires 18.2% Stake in Nevada Pacific
Dec 9, 2005

Nevada Pacific Gold Ltd. (TSX Venture Exchange - Symbol NPG) is pleased to announce that, subject to regulatory approval, it has entered into an agreement with Mr. Robert McEwen, of Toronto, Ontario to issue 12,500,000 Units at a price of $0.40 per Unit for aggregate proceeds of $5.0 million. Each Unit is comprised of one common share and one common share purchase warrant, each warrant exercisable to acquire one common share of the Company at an exercise price of $0.50 per share for a term of 2 years.

As a result of the private placement, Mr. McEwen will hold 18.2% of the outstanding shares of the Company and, in the event of exercise of all of the warrants, Mr. McEwen will hold 30.8% of the outstanding common shares of the Company.

I thought I read somewhere that 30 to 35% of shares of a company was a 'controling interest' as one only needs to convince 16 to 21% of the shareowners to follow your lead.

So a little exploration, some cost cutting measures and Magistral Mine is producing revenues. Should be no more difficult to accomplish than at Red Lake? <g>
