A lot of juncos have been showing up lately. Very small birds that are only around during the cold months. Cute little guys. Then in Jan. and Feb. we get the lark spur buntings. Just slightly larger. When we have a blizzard there will be some small waves in the snow, maybe 2 to 3 inches in height. -10 degrees, 25 mph wind and that's when they come out of hiding. They hunker behind those little drifts and eat snow fleas blowing in the wind. The snow fleas are little black specs about the size of finely ground pepper. Winter is when they come out. So small that I'd guess about one in every 25,000 people know they even exist.
