Spy Agency Mined Vast Data Trove, Officials Report: NYT
NYT ^ | By ERIC LICHTBLAU and JAMES RISEN

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 - The National Security Agency has traced and analyzed large volumes of telephone and Internet communications flowing into and out of the United States as part of the eavesdropping program that President Bush approved after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to hunt for evidence of terrorist activity, according to current and former government officials.

The volume of information harvested from telecommunication data and voice networks, without court-approved warrants, is much larger than the White House has acknowledged, the officials said. It was collected by tapping directly into some of the American telecommunication system's main arteries, they said.

(Excerpt) Read more at nytimes.com ...

These programs have kept terrorism away from our shores since 9/11 and the damn New York Times wants to tell Al Quida everything it possibly can about how to kill more Americans!!!!

Our enemy's could not have made a better mouthpiece if they tried.

Can you tell us how good the roasted camel hump is?

Must be pretty damn good... Haven't seen a camel since I've been here..

But they don't let me out of my "cage" very often.. ;0)

However, I have done a bit of flying and can't say that I've seen any from the air either.

However, I *HAVE* seen the "camel spiders".. Particularly nasty, although non-venomous, little critters...

Even had a couple of Bats flying around us in our office.. Scared the heck out of a young soldier sitting across from mem as this thing buzzed the both of us..

I just laughed and told him to quit swatting at it.. The more frightened he made it feel, the more likely he was going to be receiving rabies shots..

He calmed down.. ;0)

As for Mortars? Received a lot more "close calls" last year. The past 6 months we have been mortared, but generally on another part of our base. So I haven't gotten to riled up about it.
