This carry trade was in force two-three years ago. More current carry trade is to borrow yens, convert them into USD to buy US assets.

There is a magnitude of forces affecting exchange rates. Everyone likes to concentrate on his favorite one.
Small investors like us can only win if we correctly identify macro trend. IMO the major trend is for lower USD.
