You mention that Universities are setting up "diversity chair"
positions in such subjects as "Wymons-Studies".

I had never heard of that subject, so I did a search on Google, and that referred me to this item: (just one)

which shows Lucinda Wymons as photographer on an obscure book about (of all things) RIBBONS!

So, YES, you are (in this case) ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY RIGHT!. It is absurd to devote a Department of a University to the study of a photographer whose main claim to fame seems to have been making some photographs of RIBBONS!
