Actually Raleigh and Ashevile aren't cheap as N.C. goes.
It's all timing...is there enough left in the RE bubble to wash over to these fringe areas or does it end now and these places never get the same appreciation...that is the question.
Would you rather be stuck with property in North Carolina or Florida?
