It is almost impossible to imagine a future for the dollar that is anything but down -- I think we both agree on that. The problem is the reliance on foreign debt -- we are addicts in this regard. Now we can search hard for a way to break our addictive behavior and the dollar will still fall because of the hole we dug ourselves into -- but if we don't change course then the hole will be six feet down and well laid out to put the dollar in a pine box. We will pay a very steep price for a lower dollar. If our goal is national poverty then we should simply let the dollar slide and stay the course as the saying goes. But if our goal is to prosper, then we have some very hard work ahead of us.
