We know ourselves well enough. The fault lies in the stereotyped perceptions of the "labels". Obviously folks have a subjective notion of what is meant to be a "lefty" or "right winger" and tend to reject those notion out of hand. Then when they discover they have tendencies or attitudes that actually fall into the "hated" category, it tends to be unsettling. Problem is that frequently, especially in the states, folks don't go any further than considering labels when they vote. We obviously are suffering immensely because of this. People have voted for a known incompetent drone because of the label perception rather than any measure of ability or competence.
