I applied for a license, but after learning just how severe the conditions were, decided to simply use long guns rather than hand guns. I have experience with 22's 303's 8mm's and a variety of shotguns....Mr Martin proposed that the US should do more to protect Canada from handguns, rather than proposing we tighten the security of Canadian Borders. Mr Martin doesn't seem to understand that this is a problem his policies have allowed to fester. That since he has been Prime Minister, the deaths from handguns are skyrocketting, and while he was playing Prime Minister, he missed a chance to make Canada safer for people walking down our streets. Our borders should be well policed by well paid, well trained, and if necessary properly armed border guards who are professionals, just like policemen, or soldiers. Border Crossings are NOT the place you send university students for summer jobs. Why is this so hard for Martin to figure out? As for the Gun Registry, kill it, it doesn't work. Make an all party commission to see why it doesn't work, and then build a law that does work. Use the old hand gun laws as a point of reference, and enforce the laws on violence. Any violence. When people start spending real time for crimes of violence, maybe our streets will be safer. None of the parties would have objected to ANY of this kind of work while Paul Martin was Prime Minister, nor would they have voted against it. He should be ashamed of his term in office with the blood so many dead children on his hands. His inability to even grasp the problem should be investigated immediately after the election. Children have been killing more and more children, and Canada's NERO Paul Martin simply did nothing. He didn't even have the wits to grab a fiddle.
