Yes, the " " around it denotes the real point... which was something to describe American power... not something that fits the definition of empire.

Your own post shows that:

"The American Empire is a politically charged, informal term sometimes used to describe the current political, economic, and cultural influence of the United States on a global scale."

Yes it is.... it's used only because the US has become so powerful... unlike anything else except............ "empires" from the past.
