I met my wife at Camp Lejune Marine Corp Base in North Carolina, I was visiting my sister the first week of July, 1967, my sister's husband was stationed there at the time, I was taking the summer off from college before starting my junior year, I was out of the Army in 1965 and started college then... my sister wanted to introduce me to their baby sitter, so I agreed... the baby sitter and I were introduced, we dated, we saw the fireworks at the Base on the 4th and fell in love, we dated every day and evening for the next week, her father was the Sgt. Major at the Base, so he had to meet me and check me out, my sister had to find another baby sitter for that week...

When I returned home, we wrote for several months and I finally invited her to the Miami/Notre Dame Thankgsgiving homecoming game at the Orange Bowl (which we won), she accepted, she stayed, we continued to date, and two months later we eloped... we're still as happy as two peas in a pod... we married on January 20th, 1968 and stayed at the married dorms on campus at the University of Miami until I graduated, amazingly my grades went from low C's to high A's, then we moved to Chicago where I completed Graduate School...
