Thanks for the link and your comments.

The problem of judging the quality of the coins is twofold.

First, it is important to be able to avoid imitations.

Second, I may need to convince a buyer, who is not the original dealer, that the coins are actually gold.

If the financial system goes through some sort of reconfiguration, it might not be safe to assume that the local coin store will be able to survive.
