RE:"How do you know that that was an unreasonable complaint?"

Jeeze Ted, if you work for yourself you have to fund 100% of your pension.

Yes, so what? That's normal. You want me to ask someone else to fund my pension plan?

So the government funded stuff just out competes the private sector.

It was the private sector that introduced the funded pension plan in the first place......during WW II. They couldn't give pay increases because of wage freezes during the war so they offered the pension plan instead. The gov't simply copied the private sector.

The private sector has to promise unrealistic pensions just to get workers. Trouble is that the private sector doesn't have the power to tax or print money to make good on it. See the problem?

Oh my God.......the corporations in this country are just suffering because of this unfortunate situation. I understand one CEO gets a salary of only $10 per week because the pension funds for employees are so big. I have to stop here.......I am starting to weep thinking about that poor CEO. How he suffers for the sake of his employees! NOT!

I can assure you, in NYC, the bennies are super good.

And I can assure you that NYC has the highest cost of living in the US.........those bennies do not go far.
