Well, I accept that you don't really think that Adolf was a good bloke, but your explanation of why you said it is pretty convoluted. Since it seems to me to be perfectly obvious that democracy is not guaranteed to produce good outcomes, let alone good leaders, your oblique reasoning eluded me - and I like to indulge in irony from time to time myself.

It does seem to me that maybe you write in that style more for yourself than for your readers (the mark of an artist?). And I do detect some desire to shock.

Regarding GWB and Iraq, I get the impression that virtually everyone who contributes to this board sees this situation in pretty much the same way. To me GWB exemplifies the weakness, or, more accurately, the vulnerability of democracy, which is really nothing more or less than the limitations of human beings. People have limited knowledge, limited understanding, and limited desire to know. No politician who told the truth ever got elected president, and the best liars are those who believe their own lies.

To be more specific, you expect your readers to know that when you use the word "good", you mean good as "defined by the majority", not good as seen by Maurice. We are not mind-readers.
