As China becomes the largest economy in the world, they will spend more on the military. The country is populated by intelligent people. As they invest more in their military, it will get better.

At some point the itch to engage in war to test their newfound muscles will become irresistible. The cannot hone heir strategies and tactics until they do. It is unlikely they will pick a fight with the US until they have experience elsewhere.

The real question is would they invade Taiwan prior to gaining military experience elsewhere?

Will Taiwan submit to mainland hegemony willingly?
